OldSchool RuneScape Quests is a group of interrelated tasks, usually involving a story line. They take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to complete.

First of all, the starting locations for all quests have blue compass labels on the minimap. Completing quests provide rewards ranging from experience and items, to access to new areas.

Additionally, as of 25 November 2020, there are a total of 147 quests in Old School RuneScape. 21 free and 126 member-only quests. A total of 279 Quest points is the reward for completing all quests.
43 quest points from quests are available to free players.
Players who obtain the maximum number of quest points can wear the quest point cape.

Nonetheless many Old School RuneScape quests are a part of a series of quests that share a common plot-line.

Secondly, progress in a quest series is made in a linear fashion, with each quest requiring the completion of the previous one.

Last but not least, the majority of the quest series consist out of a specific area, and their completion is necessary to access either more of that area or specific features within it.
